Sometimes we get letters and comments from Cooking Light Diet community members that are just too good to be true. I’ll wipe my eyes, spin around in my chair (because rolly chairs are the best), settle in, and reread just to make sure I wasn’t hallucinating.
Such was the case with a letter from a Boston-area community member named Lisa. Lisa let us know that not only was she enjoying the Cooking Light Diet, but she was experiencing the most profound weight-loss results we’d heard yet. From January when she joined to September, Lisa had lost 50 pounds*. I immediately reached out to hear more of her phenomenal story.
I asked this veterinary clinic employee what she was enjoying most about the Cooking Light Diet, and she said she really enjoyed the emphasis on portion sizes and whole, natural foods. “I’ve done other [diets], like Weight Watchers, where you’re both trying to steer people towards healthy foods,” Lisa told me. “But this is how you do it. And this is what a good portion looks like. And I like that it’s mostly whole foods and not processed foods, although there are some convenience options.”
Lisa’s also enjoying trying the menu variety, picking up a few favorite recipes along the way. “The weird grilled turkey and cheese with mango chutney and Granny Smith apples? That’s really interesting and delicious, and I never would’ve put those together on my own,” she said. “I can’t say that I’ve had a bad meal. Obviously there are some that you tend towards and prefer, but there hasn’t been one that’s like, ‘Oh my God, I’m never making that again.'”
And, of course, I had to hear more about Lisa’s incredible Cooking Light Diet weight-loss journey. “…It was a lot of work in the beginning, but just like anything else you get used to it,” Lisa told me. “And I started feeling better and losing weight, so it was kind of easy to keep it going after that,” she said.
“When I started, I was 193.6 pounds. When I weighed myself this morning, I was 143.6 pounds. …Yet the Cooking Light Diet doesn’t feel restrictive. Like I’ve said, the food is awesome, I’ve never felt hungry on it, and taking the time to cook is kind of distracting me from sitting on the couch after work.”
Not only is Lisa losing weight, she’s also exercising more. When I spoke to Lisa she was on the last day of a 30-day plank challenge. She completed a 5-minute plank. Go, Lisa! Thanks so much for sharing your amazing story with us. We tip our hats to you. Cheers!
