Is it springtime yet? After all the winter weather everyone has been having, I’m beyond happy that the South has had some warmer weather this past week. I am so ready for the flavors of spring, and this Lemon-Lime Pound Cake from Southern Living is calling my name! Just look at those lemons and perfect spirals of lime zest!
This cake is a classic Southern favorite that was first introduced in the 1950s. It gets its lemon-lime flavor from a soft drink, such as 7UP, and the lemon-lime glaze calls for fresh lemon and lime juice. The recipe itself is pretty simple, and boy does it make one good pound cake. The recipe also claims that the candied lemons are optional, but if you’re like me and are dying for some sunshine and citrus, they are necessary. Someone pass me a fork!
