Use Cereal to Give Your Meals an Extra Crunch

November 30, 2013 | By | Comments (0)

Some people add nuts to meals to give them a little extra crunch, but you can use cereal instead. One of our food editors claims that she puts Grape-Nuts cereal on “everything” to add crunch and nutty flavor. Plus, you get fiber, iron, B-vitamins, and folic acid along with the crunch. Try sprinkling a tablespoon of nuggets on yogurt, frozen yogurt, low-fat ice cream, oatmeal, fruit salads, green salads, and vegetables. Oh, and it’s also good in a bowl of milk with a spoon. Since you’re only using a few tablespoons at a time, store the cereal in the freezer in a zip-top plastic bag to keep it fresh.
