Skip Valentine’s Day This Year

Are you beyond over the standard store-bought chocolates and forever long waits at even the neighborhood dives? Us, too. So we’re proposing a ban on Valentine’s Day this year. Or, rather, a ban on what Valentine’s Day has become.

As bans are a more organized form of a coup, we have a few rules:

1) Do only what you want to do. Feel like having burgers instead of romantic filet? Go for it. We suggest breakfast for dinner, as it’s likely you were so busy boycotting Valentine’s Day that you missed National Pancake Day this week and have been craving a tall stack ever since. What? That’s just me? Repeat Rule 1.

2) Skip the traditions you dislike. While a box of candy may be a go-to this season, think about what you’re really craving. S’mores? A candy bar? A really amazing milkshake? Who’s to say those aren’t Valentine-friendly?

3) Invite those you love. Your husband, your wife, your neighbors, your friends… invite those who mean the most in your life, but perhaps give them a heads up that while this is a love-filled zone, it is Valentine free.

Are you celebrating (or skipping) Valentine’s Day this year? Tell us your plans!
