When I come home from a long day at the office I just want to relax. Call me crazy (maybe lazy), but time-consuming meals just typically aren’t my thing when I’m curled up on the couch watching a quality episode (or two…) of Family Feud. I love a simple and delicious meal. Key word being: simple. It’s refreshing when you can find recipes that are easy, healthy, and appeal to everyone.
Oxmoor House has teamed up with our friends at Cooking Light to produce a new cookbook called Real Family Food. Author, Amanda Haas put it best when she said that these recipes are simple, easy, and that your whole family will love them. Now this is what I’m talking about!
Here’s a unique contents page− a thumbnail photo of every recipe featured in the cookbook with the page number, title, and category it falls under. I found this approach to be fun and easy when trying to locate recipes.
I absolutely loved that Haas’ book is so personable. On almost every page, she has a special note about the recipe. Whether it’s about how it tastes, or where it came from, or if her kids loved it, she gives you credible and relatable feedback. There’s something about having solely her voice throughout the book that urges you to want to try everything.
The pictures also immediately grabbed my attention. I’ve flipped through a lot of cookbooks so far at this job and I can honestly say these enticed me the most to want to go on a cooking spree. You can practically see the yummy goodness just oozing off of the pages!
But literally, yummy goodness is oozing off of these sandwiches… The Grilled Peanut Butter-Banana Fingers appealed most to me. I can’t think of many other deadly combinations than the undeniably good one of peanut butter, bananas, and chocolate. Throw that together on a Panini grill and you have just created perfection. And check this out, it only takes 6 minutes to make! I’d definitely call that quick and easy. These will definitely be showing up in my kitchen soon.
