Tying the Knot and Tailgating

By Virginia Switzer

Ruby_and_dover_2I'm at a time in my life when all of my friends are gettin’ hitched. For the past few months I’ve traveled around the South hosting showers, bachelorette parties, and being in weddings. My most recent party was a tailgate engagement for one of my college roommates Katherine and her soon-to-be hubby, Chris. If you’re looking for some fresh engagement party ideas during the fall season try this one. Let me tell you, this was the most fun!

Five of the bridesmaids and I hosted this party before the UT vs. Alabama game at Knoxville. Although the game was disappointing, from a Tennessee gal’s point of view, the tailgate was not. We nailed the vital B’s for a tailgate, barbeque and bourbon. Then decorated with bright orange and white balloons, pom-poms, and all other essentials.

For our 70+ tailgatin’ guests we had 20 pounds of barbeque and pans of baked beans from F.A.T.S BBQ, a local smoke house shack that has some of the juiciest, mouth-watering pork in East Tennessee. If you're ever in the area look them up. Yum!

Before everyone made their way towards the stadium we made sure they didn’t leave empty handed, and handed out bright orange koozies. It was a great ending to remember a wonderful day.
