Gotta Like ‘Em All: 13 of the Most Epic Pokémon-Inspired Foods on Instagram

Pokémon. At that very mention of this word, you can immediately tell whether someone is a fan based whether a knowing grin stretches across their face or they roll their eyes.  But whether you love or love to hate on Pokémon and everyone running around phone-to-face trying to “catch ’em all,” it’s undeniable that the food world has sat up and taken notice of this current obsession.

Scroll through Instagram and you’re sure to see a few Pokéball or Pikachu-inspired foods, along with local restaurants and cafes advertising their themed dishes. You can even search out food establishments that are Pokéstops (a place for Pokémon Go players to catch Pokémon at) through Yelp’s new search tool. And quite frankly, it’s all pretty amusing. The Pokémon craze has brought out some very real culinary creativity and artistry in folks–not to mention, loads of random discounts at restaurants and shops for people on Pokémon Go missions.

So even if you’re an eye-roller, the social phenomenon and resulting food creations are pretty damn fascinating. Below are some of the latest and greatest Pokémon food finds currently on Instagram:

Like this loaded Pokéball waffle, complete with Pikachu and Bulbasaur drinks on the side.

Ice cream is definitely more sweet when it looks like cute Pokémon.

Australia’s Doughnut Time recognizes that any inherently round food is perfect for making into a Pokéball.

These cheese tarts look might be the best iterations Pikachu and Psyduck out there.

More lava cheese tarts with Pokemon faces again 😆 Pikachu salted egg yolk lava cheese tarts and normal psyduck ones. Have been seeing salted egg yolk paired with Japanese cheese tarts lately so I decided to try making and eating them. Still think the classic is better though. Thank you @girleatsmelbourne for being my taster😆 hope it was alright for you〜 * * トロトロチーズタルトをまだ作りますよ〜😆 塩っぱい卵黄チーズタルトタルトと普通のチーズタルトです。最近、インターネットで塩っぱい卵黄のチーズタルトを見ましたから作ってみます。オリジナルのチーズタルトはやっぱりの方美味しいと思います。

Best part of waking up, is Pokéballs in your cup.

Gotta carb load to prepare ready for lengthy Pokémon Go walks.

California’sThe Loop gets major props for their play on words with the Pikachurro.

Gotta catch and eat ’em all.

No joke, this lunch is a work of art. And nutritious!

BobaPioca of San Francisco clearly knows how to make a good cup o’ tea.

Now this looks like some shock-ingly good ice cream.

And not to pat ourselves on the back… but we’re really kind of into this Pokéball Poke Bowl we made Friday (look for the recipe later this week).

Getting our pokéNOM on with Pokémon Ball Poke Bowls. Recipe coming soon. #trymyrecipes
