Wrestle Between Happiness and Health No More: The BBQ Sandwich Salad is the Answer to All

Why turn a sandwich into a salad? The answer is simple: So it’s healthy, duh.

Put anything on a bed of greens and you’re immediately entitled to self-praise. It’s a fact. You get to say, “Ohhh look how healthy I’m being with this big green salad.” Say, for example, you scarf down a pulled pork sandwich with a side of fries from your favorite barbecue joint, and then feel like you did your body something of a disservice. You feel bogged down, even discouraged. BUT you could also just take that sandwich meal (or leftovers from that sandwich meal) and put it over greens to achieve the highly coveted, “Hell yeah I just ate a salad for lunch!” mental status. You get the best that both sandwiches and salads have to offer. Enter: the BBQ Sandwich Salad.

Ah, yes, the glorious mash-up of two already glorious foods. You’ve got pulled pork (obtain from your favorite source), crinkle-cut fries, sandwich bun croutons, pickled cucumbers, slaw dressed in finger-licking homemade buttermilk ranch dressing, even more of the finger-licking homemade buttermilk ranch dressing for good measure, and a drizzle of BBQ sauce all piled high on a bed of mixed greens. Really, this is a supercharged, feel-good way to clear out your fridge of any barbecue leftovers. P.S. while from-scratch is great, no one will judge you for using store bought jarred pickles. It’s your life, it’s your BBQ Sandwich Salad. You do you, boo.

Point being, we’ll take this sandwich salad over an ol’ lone sandwich or boring ass salad any day. We’ll also venture to say it’s one of the best things to happen to both sandwiches and salads since the advent of bread and/or the salad spinner. If you are of a similar mindset, you’ll definitely want to familiarize yourself with the Cheeseburger Salad next.
