Put anything on a bed of greens and you’re immediately entitled to self-praise. It’s a fact. You get to say, “Ohhh look how healthy I’m being with this big green salad.” Say, for example, you scarf down a pulled pork sandwich with a side of fries from your favorite barbecue joint, and then feel like you did your body something of a disservice. You feel bogged down, even discouraged.
