What’s in a name? That which we call barbecue by any other name would taste as sweet. I think even Shakespeare would be scratching his head at this triad of southern slang. So which is it… bbq, bar-b-cue, or barbecue?
Barbecue, also commonly spelled bar-b-cue, is generally referred to the cooking method, when meat is cooked over an open fire, low and slow. Techniques often include roasting, braising, and smoking.
BBQ is used as an acronym for barbecue. Though, typically thought of as a particular type of food. This could be chicken, ribs, brisket, smoked salmon, and just about anything covered in a smoky BBQ sauce.
