Ultimate Bacon Guacamole and Homemade Tortilla Chips

April 28, 2016 | By | Comments (2)

Today’s gotta-have-it craving is guacamole and tortilla chips, but not just any guacamole: Bacon Guacamole.

Start by making a batch of Simple Guacamole. Four ingredients add perfect spice to the mashed avocado, which means you never need to buy one of those flavor packets again.

But we’re not craving Simple Guacamole, we’re craving Amazing Guacamole, which means we’re taking that recipe and putting our own spin on it by adding 3-4 pieces of cooked, crumbled bacon and our favorite mix-ins: cumin, jalapeño, tomato, and red onion, all diced finely so they scoop up nicely on our chips.

If you’ve never made chips from scratch, you’re missing out. All you need are tortillas and a little salt. Our favorite homemade tortilla chip recipe is for savory chips, but it’s also amazing to swap the salt for a little cinnamon and brown sugar and serve them for dessert.

The best part about these recipes is that you can make them exactly to your liking. Want crispier chips? Cook them a little longer. Watching your sodium? Go light on the salt, though this recipe is far less salty than store-bought chips or packaged guacamole seasoning.

Save this delicious combo for your next taco night in, or for an easy appetizer any night.
