Today we’re talking seafood. Namely, swai fish. Have you heard of swai fish? This is a species of fish belonging to the same family as the catfish, and because it also resembles a shark, is sometimes called a shark catfish. This species of fish originates in the warm water climates of Asia, mostly Vietnam. And although this fish is an inexpensive delicacy, it has been recently stirring up controversy among health food experts for emerging as having a questionable natural habitat that could be home to pollution and chemicals. So when purchasing swai fish, always make sure it is from a reputable source where the fish are given large amounts of space and the health standards are regulated. If venturing in the land of swai fish isn’t to your liking, you’ll be pleased to know that tilapia and catfish make a great alternative! With similar flavors and textures, these two types of fish make a great fallback if good swai fish is hard to find. Just as well, swai fish makes a great option to use in these recipes below.
