Lately, we’ve been hearing a lot about going vegan. Maybe you’ve tried it for a few days, a week, or perhaps you’ve been vegan for years. While all diets have different caveats, the vegan diet is very simple. No meat and no animal products whatsoever. That list of no-no’s includes items such as eggs, milk, cheese, and honey. Yes, even honey.

When I first learned about the vegan diet, I thought it was a little strange. Why on Earth would someone voluntarily give up some the yummiest foods? (Think cheeseburgers, pepperoni pizza, or milkshakes…) But when I delved further into it, and even learned how to make a few vegan recipes of my own, I realized that you really aren’t giving up anything when you choose vegan recipes. Nowadays, I’m a huge fan of vegan food because not only does it leave animals out of the equation, but you can achieve some extremely amazing flavors and dishes from plant-based foods, and such a choice can come with very sweet benefits. Think vegans can’t enjoy dessert? Tell that to this completely delicious and drool-inducing vegan Molasses Cake!

If a chocolate fix is what you’re after, look no further than this fabulous vegan chocolate strawberry cupcake that helped baker Chloe Coscarelli win first place on Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars” in 2010. She was the very first vegan to ever win a Food Network competition. Layered with delicious dairy-free frosting and plenty of sliced strawberries, this adorable treat has a lot going for it, so also being a spectacular vegan dessert is just the icing on top of this perfect cupcake.
