I made my first pecan pie of the season the other day. Pecan pie is definitely a dessert you can enjoy year round, but it always reminds me of fall and Thanksgiving.
This Salted-Caramel-Chocolate Pecan Pie is definitely a show-stopper, but there’s also something there for everyone. Personally, I’m not a huge pecan fan, but I made this pie last year and everyone in my family enjoyed it. It starts with a classic pie crust and is filled with an extremely fudgy chocolate filling. That alone made it an incredible pie, but the pecans and salted caramel sauce take it completely over the top! The texture of the filling is just so rich and luxurious, and all the flavors go so well together. If you haven’t made this recipe yet, definitely put it on your list!
The great thing about this pie is that you can make it completely homemade, or there are several store-bought substitutions you could use instead. You could go with this recipe from Southern Living, which does start with a pre-made pie crust, but you could certainly use a from-scratch crust in its place. Then there’s the homemade fudge filling and the homemade salted caramel sauce. I think a brownie mix could be a good substitute here, especially if it’s extra thick and gooey. After arranging the pecans on top, you could use a store-bought caramel sauce instead of homemade. Either way you go, you’re going to have one delicious and impressive pie.
