Southern Living‘s September issue is bursting at the seams with apple recipes. Apples, caramel sauce, and cider are some of my very favorite things about fall, so I was excited to see these Mini Apple Cider Pound Cakes in addition to the amazing Apple Stack Cake on the cover. I love that these two cake recipes are on opposite ends of the spectrum: show-stopping layer cake, and easy, simple pound cakes.
This recipe makes six mini pound cakes, which are flavored with a little apple pie spice, a pinch of ground cloves, and of course, apple cider. As if this isn’t enough, the recipe gives you three different options for toppings!
Streusel is always a good choice, and this streusel recipe includes chopped pecans and a dash of apple pie spice. The second option is a bourbon glaze, and the third is a lemon-sugar glaze. If you’re indecisive like me, it might be a hard decision to choose just one of these toppings. But like I mentioned before, this recipe makes multiple cakes! That way, there’s something for everyone, and you can taste a little piece of each.
