Oats come in at least three varieties, all of which are whole-grain. There’s quick-cooking, rolled (sometimes called regular), and steel-cut. Steel-cut oaks are long-cooking, extra chewy, and are favored in Ireland and Scotland. A stocked pantry always has rolled oats on hand. Who knows when you’re going to crave some oatmeal cookies? But a well-stocked pantry has at least one of the other types as well.
