Cake of the Week: Bird’s Nest Cake

April 14, 2014 | By | Comments (0)

With Easter less than a week away, you’re probably wrapped up in thoughts of brunch, Easter-egg hunts on a nice spring day, and tons of sugary sweets. If you’re looking for a real show-stopping Easter cake recipe, we have plenty of them. But if you’re looking for something that’s easy and fun for your whole family to make, you need to make this Bird’s Nest Cake from All You.

For this insanely fun Easter treat, you need a two layer cake. It can be chocolate, vanilla, or any flavor you want. It can be from scratch or from a box mix. It really doesn’t matter and it’s up to you! Then the cake is covered in frosting and tons of festive sprinkles. The yellow candies that line the bottom of the cake are Sixlets, but you could also use yellow M&Ms or jelly beans. The really fun part is decorating the top. To create the bird’s nest, you’ll need some Peeps and licorice strings. Again, this recipe has a yellow color scheme, but Peeps come in so many different colors these days. So, you can switch up the color scheme however you want. Whichever colors you choose, your family will love this cake. Plus, it’s almost as fun to make as it is to eat!
