Pesto Sauce

September 21, 2013 | By | Comments (0)

Originally a sauce made from the fresh, wild basil that grows on the hills Liguria, Italy, pesto is now a popular sauce used on more than just pasta. Made of garlic, basil, pine nuts, Parmesan or Romano cheese, and olive oil, it can be spread onto toasted bread, used in place of red cause on pizzas, or blended into a soup, as it is here. As an added convenience, commercial pesto is available year-round from your local supermarket.
