Cake of the Week: American Flag Cheesecake Bars

June 12, 2013 | By | Comments (0)

In case you haven’t looked at a calendar this week, Friday, June 14 is Flag Day in the United States.  This is the day we commemorate the adoption of the flag of the USA, which happened on June 14, 1777.   While it’s not an official federal holiday, the President  can officially proclaim the observation each year.

Now that you’ve had your history lesson for the day, it’s time to celebrate our flag.  And, of course, at MyRecipes, we think your celebration should include cake!   Decorate these easy cheesecake bars as American flags by using blueberries for the star section and piping jelly in thin lines to resemble the strips. It’s a great make-ahead dessert for summer entertaining.  Go forth and enjoy some cheesecake.  It’s the patriotic thing to do.
