Drink Your Way Through the Oscars

The Oscars are upon us and there are tons of glamorous Hollywood party ideas. A red carpet from your door to the TV. Little gold stars on every toothpick. Wolfgang Puck's Oscar-shaped smoked salmon. But let’s not forget the most import part of this classy evening: drinks.

Create signature cocktails inspired by the nominees so your party guests can show their support for their favorite films. Be sure to offer non-alcoholic options for your guests not drinking.

Here are ideas for some of the best picture nominees:

This French film celebrates the classic days of filmmaking. Black and white. Silent. 4:3 aspect ration. Celebrate with a classic French drink: the Champagne Cocktail

The Descendants

Whether you love this movie for beautiful Hawaii or beautiful George Clooney, celebrate with a Mai Tai or Blended Blue Hawaiian. If you're looking for appetizer or snack pairings, check out our collection of Hawaiian recipes

What is more southern than a mint julep or iced sweet tea? A Mint Julep Sweet Tea. For The Help fans not drinking, make a pitcher of Southern Sweet Tea.

Transport your guests to Paris in the 1920s with an authentic Absinthe Cocktail. Look for a brand that does not have "liqueur" on the label because that means it's been bottled with sugar. True absinthe is not bottled with sugar.

You could buy a six-pack and create a sports bar atmosphere, but beer can be classy, too. Make a Black Velvet beer cocktail with stout and sparkling wine. Offer Fresh Ginger Beer for kids.

Hugo

If a guest has one too many cocktails and crashes on your couch, continue the Oscar celebration in the morning with—no, not another cocktail—café au lait and stolen croissants a la Hugo.
