I don’t know a single person who doesn’t enjoy having breakfast for dinner, so I was pleasantly surprised when my friend sent out her Breakfast at Tiffany’s birthday party invitations.
The theme: Every guest brings a breakfast item or beverage of their choice to eat breakfast for dinner and watch none other than one of Audrey Hepburn’s classic films, “Breakfast at Tiffany’s". And to channel the style icon, we were all required to show up in black dresses and pearls. It was fabulous darling! Not to mention an adorable party idea.
The birthday girl’s roommate set up a feminine table spread draped in black and hot pink and set with tiers to showcase all of the food. And the food was plentiful!
From zucchini bread to turkey bacon and fresh cut fruit there was more than enough to go around and feast on as we watched the free-spirited Holly Golightly find herself and fall in love in New York City.
Other guests brought creamy cheese grits, poppy seed pancakes with macerated strawberries, hash browns with bell peppers and green onions and scrambled eggs. A little bit of something for everyone.
A party-goer helps herself to a blueberry French toast bread pudding. Baking French toast as a casserole is so much easier than standing over the stove and frying individual pieces of bread. This recipe was given to the cook by a friend she met at a retreat. It was a hit at the retreat and it was a hit at the party.
