Best Jarred Tomato Sauce, Period.

Giada-target[1]With Italian blood running through my veins, I have little tolerance for jarred tomato sauce. In fact, I had none until I tried Food Network chef Giada de Laurentis’ new sauce line for Target. I grabbed a bottle with a sneer but was more than surprised when I tasted this chunky, fresh-tasting sauce.

There are three varieties (Tomato Basil, Vegetable Marinara, and Creamy Tomato) as well as five types of boxed pasta (and pesto, vinaigrettes, and coffee). I used the Tomato Basil sauce in a lasagna and tossed the Creamy Tomato with a fresh ravioli from my local Italian market. I fed my two-year-old daughter a healthy helping of spaghetti with the Vegetable Marinara sauce, and she ate every last bite. What a relief to know that on busy days I can grab a jar, cook a pot of pasta, and have dinner on the table in under 20 minutes.

It’s so good it almost makes me want to stop making my own sauce. Almost. (Sorry, Grandma Coradetti.)
