Feel the Love

Crabck421676x Break out the heart-shaped plates and red-rimmed glasses, it’s time to celebrate America’s love affair with, well, love.  Valentine’s Day is merely inches around the corner, meaning malls are crowded, card stores are near empty, and, unless you want that fantastic early bird special at the local diner, your shot at getting reservations at that little bistro are pretty much shot.

Every year there’s backlash against Valentine’s Day.  Too much pressure.  Too much needless expense.  Too much icky love stuff.  This year, some of those fears, especially the budget-based ones, ring a little more true.  The good news is that you don’t have to spend a fortune, or even very much at all, to enjoy a night with your special someone, best girlfriends, or close family members.

Skip the prix fixe menu and check out our Date-Night Dinners or our hand-picked menu guaranteed to Charm Him on the Cheap (only $7 per serving for the whole meal!). That doesn’t include the wine, but, if you’re in the market, take a peek at our top wine picks for this Valentine’s Day. We’ve picked wines for every relationship category, ranging from Early Stages to Newlywed to Seasoned couples, but you don’t have to be paired off to enjoy these libations.  Instead, Celebrate Being Single and check out our picks for Just the Girls, Group of Friends, or even Flying Solo.

If Valentine’s Day is just so not your thing, throw an anti-Cupid celebration with hilarious commentary about self-involved Clam-Stuffed Mushrooms and aptly named Jerk Chicken.

If you’re into the pink and red brouhaha, stock up on our Mood Foods and pick up a few conversation starters about why avocados are considered aphrodisiacs (you’ll never guess).

Finally, check out our February calendar, a showcase of our dying love to all things chocolate. Because, after all, who doesn’t need a little sugar this Valentine’s Day?
